Hello! I’m so glad you dropped by.
My over active imagination pictures us sitting down with a cup of coffee and a delicious treat ready to ch
at about life. Something about coffee and cupcakes makes life a tad better.
Speaking of life, isn’t it crazy lately? Hopefully while we visit, you will leave with a tad more joy than when you clicked over. Maybe even a big smile.
I’m learning joy is something I need to cultivate and let’s hope I do better at cultivating joy than I do growing plants!
In the midst of cultivating joy I’m trying to figure out life: following Jesus, working, being present with family and friends, the list goes on. And I bet you have a list too.
My list in January started out saying:
The Real Jenny Smith
I guess you could say, being in my 40’s made me realize time is getting short!
Watching a show recently a lady said, “She is half his age.” I turned to Chad and said, “I would have to be dating someone in their 90’s for that to be said about me.” He replied, “Better stick with me.”
What that means for you new friend, is I hope you get to know the real me. And I hope you will share the real you with me. Time is too short and life it too crazy for us to do all the work of being fake.
I hope to share about the things I’m learning, the path I’ve traveled, the good and the bad. And there is some bad, anger, for instance. But let’s get to know each other a tad better before we go there shall we? Did I mention the Real Jenny Smith is still in the molding stage? I’m counting on God being faithful to finish what He started!
Having young adult daughters is the best!
Meghan is 23, Katie is 20, and Lauren is 18. All of a sudden we get along so much better! They are my absolute best friends! They make me think, grow, laugh, and love more than I thought was possible.
After 23 years of marriage, I can tell you with certainty, it isn’t easy but it is well worth the work. Chad is the direct opposite of me. I spend my free time reading, writing, and dreaming. Okay, shopping and eating cupcakes too. He spends his free time hunting and fishing. He does like to read and this year we are trying to read some of the same books. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes.
This is one of my favorite photos, we went to a local charity event and he couldn’t say no to a tie since it was for charity…
We live in North Georgia with Maggie, I tell the girls she has replaced them. They know I’m lying as Maggie doesn’t know how to unload the dishwasher. If she did, it might be bad news for them! We got her when I decided Chad and I needed a new hobby we could do together since all the girls were about to be gone. I picked Duck Hunting…I don’t know how I choose it. But for Christmas one year, I got duck calls, boots, an orange vest, training book, I could go on but you get the picture. Out of that experience Maggie is the only part that stuck.
My house was built in 1890 and I talked Chad into painting it a teal color. I suppose part of becoming real with myself, involved painting the house a color that makes me smile every time I come home. Being a realtor, I go in houses most days, but as of now, mine is the only teal one. Now, when you live in a small town and paint your house teal, everybody knows where you live!
I love to share pictures on Instagram … Instagram is where I seem to share the more thoughtful side of my life, which is code for it usually is another picture of Maggie, my house, cupcakes (well pretty much any sweets), places we visit, or the girls.
I’m active on Facebook, and Instagram … and occasionally on Twitter as well. I’d love to be friends with you in those places as well. And if you’re new to this little corner of the internet, I’m thrilled you dropped by and I hope we become friends!
